Our September Newsletter
International trade is vital to the world economy and also happens to be the number one revenue-generating field in Miami-Dade County. In addition to being among the highest paying industries in our community and supporting hundreds of thousands of jobs, trade and logistics offer economic prosperity for many residents, who’s purchasing power is spread throughout the other industries and communities in South Florida. I am very proud and honored to have been appointed the Chair of the Beacon Council’s Trade and Logistics Committee.
We consider Miami the gateway to Latin America. Our city is strategically located for serving the Americas by air, sea and telecommunications, plus we have a skilled multicultural/multilingual workforce. Showcasing these benefits for both trade and logistics means more companies will choose Miami-Dade as a base for their regional or global hubs, which will offer more jobs to the local community. The Miami-Dade international trade and logistics community is a cultural melting pot, with people and companies represented from every region of the world.
The Beacon Council is tasked with the important duty of attracting business to Miami Dade County – from Fortune 500s and multinational corporations to small local businesses – and I look forward to making a positive impact. There are many opportunities to make a lasting impression in the Council and in the community that we all live and work. Thank you for this vote of confidence, I will not let you down.
